The review
The Phantom propels a
robust sound quality that is ravenous with high
energy bass notes, handling large voltage amplifiers
easily with assured longevity. This demonic design
is far beyond its price; It will shake you senseless
if allowed to do so. The darkest omni present
bass sound needs the darkest name, They chose
the Phantom, a speaker that warrant its name.
The design
The distinctly new-paradigm
Phantom is a synchronous blend of torqued curves
and the latest components. A devastating driver
with futuristic looks and conveniently contoured.
The Phantom is a heavy weight design incorporating
the latest technology. Cone material is a high
pressure 75% carbon fibre impregnated paper cone
design. Heavy duty progressive butyl surround
with 18 stabilising ribs that help internal damping
and reduce non linear surround modulation, (also
used by Fostex FE208ES ltd edition Valentine Special
for Nagaoka) then combing with dual level high
loss spiders keep the cone in linear travel in
both cycles of travel. Twin stacked magnets with
multi pole yoke and plate venting keep the voice
coil temperature down under high volume levels.
A massive high power quad wound long stroke 82mm
coil is used to propel the cone from peak to peak
travel.
The very same chassis is used on our Genesis and
used by RE, Adire and Magnum subwoofers, all from
the USA. This chassis is more special as it's
cast and spun on a high speed lathe with a diamond
cutting tool to reduce harmonic resonance. High
tension spring loaded terminals keep the speaker
cables in maximum contact for zero electrical
arcing which can lead to corrosion and poor contact.
Integrated gasket is used to seal each side of
the cone from each other perfectly and is rated
at 30 Psi.
